Sorry for the blurry picture >.<

This was during our holidays.  We were suppose to go to in downtown but the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed during the holidays. I was looking forward to it and we planned it for weeks with our brother (who was back for the holidays). Since we couldn't cancel our plans in the last minute since my brother invited his friends, they decided to go somewhere else to eat in Downtown (Finch's Tea & Coffee House but ended up at a poutine place). Faith and I though, decided to go to Richmond instead with our grandparents to go grocery and cake shopping (I know, no life right?) because Faith heard them say they wanted to try Sunway and she had been forever wanting to go there since she heard about their popcorn chicken.

Sunway is a small Taiwanese restaurant located in Empire Center in Richmond (beside Parker Place). It is a (I think) a Mom and Pop kind of store with 1 young worker (their son?). They have a nice atmosphere in the store, very homey and very open.

Menu:

 On the table:

The Popcorn Chicken ($5.50) was the first to arrive and we have to say this was one of the best popcorn chicken we ever had. It came out really hot! The popcorn chicken was big, juicy, crispy and tender. The outside had a thin layer of batter that was just right with a nice crunch to it and the inside was so soft

The next thing that came was the Herbal Lamb Hot Pot ($10.50). There was lamb meat (of course), white cabbage, enoki mushrooms and red dates. There was a lot of lamb meat and they were actually really tender. The cabbage we found was way too hard and everything else was average. Our grandparents liked the soup but Faith and I didn't like it because it basically is the Chinese medicine soup that is suppose to be good for us that our grandma would force in us.

This was the Satay Lamb Noodles ($8.50). We were eating a lot of lamb that day for some reason...
There was a lot of lamb in this dish, you can't see it but the lamb is all at the bottom. The lamb was good but overall the dish was an average noodle dish though we found it had a little too much satay which made it really salty.

By the time the Dead Man Coffin ($6.95) came we were really full and almost couldn't finish this. This is basically a piece of deep fried bread hallowed out with seafood chowder in it. We found there wasn't a lot of seafood in the chowder (there was a clam, 2 shrimp) and tasted to much like milk but the chowder had a nice consistence. The bread was a little too oily but had a really nice crunch every time you bit into it. We had to eat this really fast or else the bread would become too soggy though it was mainly me who had to finish it.

Overall we liked the restaurant, the service was really good, they always refilled our cups and asked if we need anything. The food was either really good or average. If Faith and I ever come next time, we would definitely get the Popcorn chicken and the fried rice (saw another table with it and it looked soo good!) or maybe just the Popcorn chicken and go to other places to eat.
