This is our first time blogging about this restaurant but we have came here many times and is one of my (Faith's) favorite dim sum restaurants.

On the Table:

Steamed Rice Rolls Stuffed with Chinese Donuts

The Chinese donut wrapped in rice roll was great! The donuts was crispy and not soggy at all. One of my favorite dish in this restaurant.

Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (Haw Gow)
Another one of my favorites and I most eat at all dim sum restaurant is Steamed Shrimp Dumplings (Haw Gow), they were plump with lots of shrimp with kind of sticky and gummy skin but the skin was the right thickness. They were really big!

We forgot the name of this dumpling dish but my grandpa liked it a lot, it's one of his favorite dishes to eat at dim sum, the skin wasn't too thick and it had a crunchy texture inside, quite good.

Eggplant stuffed with shrimp
It was our first time eating and ordering Eggplant stuffed with shrimp at a dim sum even our grandparents never ate it before. I personally thought it was pretty yummy, it wasn't piping hot when it came, it was warm, the eggplant wasn't mushy or undercooked and the shrimp had a nice bounce to it. The black bean sauce didn't really enhance it but the sauce wasn't flavorless or anything, I like the sauce and it taste great with rice! but it made the shrimp a bit soggy. I like the eggplant dish, we might order it again sometime.

The last dish that we got was the Spareribs with black bean since on rice. Nothing to really say about this dish, it was a pretty average dish that taste exactly like the name. The spareribs were moist and flavorful but weren't a lot of spareribs, the rice taste really good with the sauce from the eggplant.

Flowers we saw while walking back to the car, they're very pretty and colourful!

We were happy and full with the dishes we ate. The service was good like most dim sum restaurants. The food was either yummy or average.  We would come here again if we were in the area. And go to galaxy bakery and buy their chestnut swiss roll! my favorite roll of all time, but sadly the price had went up D:

Tealips Bubble Tea and Waffles

Restaurant: Tealips Bubble Tea and Waffles Area: Burnaby, BC
Address:7130 Arcola Street, Burnaby

Food: 2
Service:n/a
Price: Moderate
For our friends birthday, we decided to take them out for waffles instead of just giving them a present! It took us forever to decide on a place but after them saying that they wanted to eat waffles we decided to go to Tealips in Burnaby!

But before we met up with our friends at Tealips, Faith and I where in Metropolis and when it was time to meet up with them, Faith had the crazy idea to walk to Tealips. It wasn't impossible but it takes A LONG TIME to walk there!

After you ordered they gave us this device that tells you when your order is ready. You just choose a table and wait till the device beeps, it almost like a caf...When we went there was practically no one since it was like the middle of the weekday where everyone has school except us! Pro-D Day! :D

On the Table:

Our first friend ordered the Matcha Red Bean Liege Waffle ($5.25). The plating to this dish was so cute! I loved the plate they used and the whole dish looked sumptuous! But it wasn't really, the liege waffle wasn't really crispy, it was a little soggy. The ice cream was just vanilla ice cream with matcha power on top, I wished it was actual matcha ice cream, it would have tasted better other than that there wasn't any other match flavor in it. The red beans were just regular red beans that you could get in a package.

Our other friend got the Chocolate Almond Liege Waffle ($5.50).  This was basically the same thing except it was chocolate and almonds. The waffle in this dish was more crispy then the matcha. The ice cream was the same. I thought there was too little almonds, as there was only a few scattered around the plate and none in the actual waffle or on it.

We were a little disappointed about the waffles, they weren't as good as we thought they were from the review. Though we still have not gotten the shaved ice so we most likely would come back for that since it gotten such good review on the shaved ice. I wished one of my friends had chosen the shaved ice instead of waffles...

Sunway Restaurant 三味食堂

Sorry for the blurry picture >.<

This was during our holidays.  We were suppose to go to in downtown but the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed during the holidays. I was looking forward to it and we planned it for weeks with our brother (who was back for the holidays). Since we couldn't cancel our plans in the last minute since my brother invited his friends, they decided to go somewhere else to eat in Downtown (Finch's Tea & Coffee House but ended up at a poutine place). Faith and I though, decided to go to Richmond instead with our grandparents to go grocery and cake shopping (I know, no life right?) because Faith heard them say they wanted to try Sunway and she had been forever wanting to go there since she heard about their popcorn chicken.

Sunway is a small Taiwanese restaurant located in Empire Center in Richmond (beside Parker Place). It is a (I think) a Mom and Pop kind of store with 1 young worker (their son?). They have a nice atmosphere in the store, very homey and very open.

Menu:

 On the table:

The Popcorn Chicken ($5.50) was the first to arrive and we have to say this was one of the best popcorn chicken we ever had. It came out really hot! The popcorn chicken was big, juicy, crispy and tender. The outside had a thin layer of batter that was just right with a nice crunch to it and the inside was so soft

The next thing that came was the Herbal Lamb Hot Pot ($10.50). There was lamb meat (of course), white cabbage, enoki mushrooms and red dates. There was a lot of lamb meat and they were actually really tender. The cabbage we found was way too hard and everything else was average. Our grandparents liked the soup but Faith and I didn't like it because it basically is the Chinese medicine soup that is suppose to be good for us that our grandma would force in us.

This was the Satay Lamb Noodles ($8.50). We were eating a lot of lamb that day for some reason...
There was a lot of lamb in this dish, you can't see it but the lamb is all at the bottom. The lamb was good but overall the dish was an average noodle dish though we found it had a little too much satay which made it really salty.

By the time the Dead Man Coffin ($6.95) came we were really full and almost couldn't finish this. This is basically a piece of deep fried bread hallowed out with seafood chowder in it. We found there wasn't a lot of seafood in the chowder (there was a clam, 2 shrimp) and tasted to much like milk but the chowder had a nice consistence. The bread was a little too oily but had a really nice crunch every time you bit into it. We had to eat this really fast or else the bread would become too soggy though it was mainly me who had to finish it.

Overall we liked the restaurant, the service was really good, they always refilled our cups and asked if we need anything. The food was either really good or average. If Faith and I ever come next time, we would definitely get the Popcorn chicken and the fried rice (saw another table with it and it looked soo good!) or maybe just the Popcorn chicken and go to other places to eat.

Waffle Fries in UBC

Restaurant: The Pit Burger Bar
Area: Vancouver, BC
Address: 6138 Student Union Boulevard, Vancouver
1: Poor 2: OK 3: Good 4: Very good 5: Excellent
Food: 4
Service: n/a
Price: Cheap

Faith and I hardly go to the UBC area even though we live close by so when we got the chance to go there for a field trip, Faith spent the whole week finding places for us to eat at during lunch break. The only thing that really got her attention was the waffle fries in the Pit Burger Bar.

The Pit Burger Bar is located in the Student Union building in UBC downstairs (the main reason we couldn't find it), they don't only have burgers but onion rings, Belgian fries (really wanted to try that), nacho, beer battered fish and chips. And if you're not 19 (which we weren't, 19 that is), there's a take out window for younger people like us.

On the table:

Sorry for the really bad picture >.< we were walking, eating and taking pictures at the same time so they're blurry because we didn't want to be late for the next part of out field trip.

There was a lot more than this in it, it was filled right to the top but we (our friends and us) were hungry and each took some before we remembered to take pictures >.<

They were really crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. They were really hot to eat! Almost burned my tongue a few times. I personally though it was pretty cheap for the amount we got in it.

Overall Faith and I would definitely come back and try more of the menu! And judging on how there was a lot of people ordering, their other food most be good! So if we ever come around the UBC area again, we would definitely stop by here!
